My Speech was about why we should ban palm oil.
If you haven't watched it, there are MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD! So watch my video of my speech or if you prefer read my writing.

So, if you have watched my speech you may notice me saying 'If I was a billionaire, I would make change... ' and so-on.

I would like if you could give me feedback on my speech on this post to help me improve my presentation for next year!

I also hope you quit using Palm Oil!

Sincerely,
Selina

My 2019 Speech

This is my speech for this year. I wanted to do it on something that I would like to change or at least get the message out there that palm oil is damaging and destroying our world. I hope you agree with me.

Speech

This is my finished copy of my speech. Our topic was 'How I can contribute to this world and make it a better place.' I was trying to work on my sentence starters, organisation and the types of words I have used. I got lots of feedback and feed forward from the teachers and other pupils. I am sure I have reached my goals for this speech. Plastic Bags Have you ever thought of ditching plastic bags? I have. Ditching plastic bags is a great way to contribute to the world and make it a better place. Plastic bags are 100% nasty to the environment and its wildlife. Maybe today is the day that you could think about how bad they are and maybe you could just give up on them. Critically, every year approximately 500 billion - 1 trillion plastic bags are littered worldwide, that is over 1 million per minute! On average, we use over 200 plastic bags each year and only recycle 1 of them. Then about a sixth of the plastic bags ends up in the ocean! There is no such thing as ‘away,’ when we throw plastic away, it must go somewhere. Surely there are lots of recycling bins around town! Furthermore, Did you know that over 100 million marine animals including sea turtles are killed from floating plastic bags? Turtles love to eat jellyfish but when a plastic bags is floating upside down, the turtle comes along and therefore the turtle dies. If you use reusable bags, you will help prevent more and more sea turtles from dying. I believe that Countdown is doing a really good deed by not allowing people to use plastic bags in their shops. Pak N Save needs to catch up because in my opinion reusable bags might take over the world. Especially when so many people including my family use reusable bags. In fact, in Australia all the supermarkets only allow people to use reusable bags and no plastic bags are permitted to be used in the shops at all! Should all supermarkets in the world only allow customers to use reusable bags? What do you think? In conclusion, every bit of plastic still exists… somewhere. So if you are walking around somewhere, or having a cycle even swimming in the ocean and you notice plastic bags floating around, pick it up and put it in a recycling bin and you are making a big contribution to the world!
